Artist Profile – Taylor Miller

Taylor_Miiller is an award-winning photographer known for her ability to capture natural movement and emotion through photography. Her images have been seen in magazines like Vanity Fair, L’OFFICIEL, NUMERO and Attitude among others.

She currently resides and works in Tucson, Arizona. Her academic research integrates psychogeography with vernacular mapping techniques in order to investigate artistic infrastructures of gentrification in Marseille and Tel Aviv. Furthermore, she creates performance works which use commercial styles as vehicles for social change in urban environments.

Micaela serves as an inspirational role model and mentor for young BIPOC artists, appearing at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, The Getty Museum, Rambert Dance Company in London, B12 Berlin Springboard Danse Montreal/Gibney Dance Company Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Carlos Acosta’s Acosta Danza as well as BODYTRAFFIC with her innovative Expand Practice technique which blends hip-hop with ballet to express authentic identity through physical theatricality and expressive performance. Micaela founded and Artistic Director of The TL Collective which she established alongside Carlos Acosta himself.

As she created H.O.P.E (Heroin Overdose Prevention in Erie), it wasn’t out of political activism: rather, she was mourning the death of a friend from heroin overdose and helping people through their addiction struggles online. When her reach became evident across the country, people reached out with stories of struggle; listening, consoling and encouraging were key aspects. She even attended funerals with friends while sharing openly about herself – without worrying about stigmatisation – striving to bring awareness about this epidemic!
